Client: Life Saving Victoria
Project: Annual Awards
Style: Pre-recorded event video

CLIENT BRIEF
Due to Covid-19, the annual awards event required some creative development to ensure it still commenced. Unfortunately the in-person live event needed to change to a virtual event.

Visual Culture were approached by Life Saving Victoria to help produce the awards as a pre-recorded video presentation. There were many award categories, messages from sponsors and special coverage that needed to be included.

So the team at LSV developed the schedule, award winners and scripts and we went about getting all the pieces filmed and edited.

First off it was to record the host remotely from a green screen studio in the Gold Coast, while we directed from Melbourne.

We then asked key LSV personnel and sponsors to record their own video pieces with a smartphone, again while we directed remotely.

Then we requested as many extra assets as possible, such as photos of nominees. Once we had all the media assets, it was time to build the full awards ceremony, complete with dynamic editing, special effects that are common with glitzy awards and emotive music.

Once the video was complete, which ran over 90 minutes, it was time to upload to the LSV social media platforms and set a ‘premiere’ date and time. Their members were notified to dress up an tune in live to watch the event and comment in real time on the social platforms.

The great thing about uploading the video ahead of time rather than live, was it gave the LSV comms team plenty of time to load in comments at set intervals. The excitement close to the premiere time was also exceeded with a dedicated countdown.

This presentation was a big success all around and showed the true capabilities of a pre-recorded event. Future events will be a combination of live in-person and pre-recorded content.
