CLIENT BRIEF
Community Broker Network (CBN) brings its broker community together for an annual multi-day conference, combining keynote presentations, seminars and networking with a packed program of social events.
Visual Culture was engaged to support CBN with a suite of video content across its annual conferences, including the 2025 conference in Canberra and 2026 conference in Cairns.
The brief went well beyond simply filming the event. CBN wanted video to play a role before, during and after the conference – building excitement, reinforcing the conference theme, capturing the atmosphere and creating content that could continue to engage its community once everyone had returned home.
For the 2026 conference, themed New Horizons, we were also tasked with creating the opening video. Played immediately before the CEO’s opening address, it needed to grab the attention of the room, introduce the conference theme and create a sense of anticipation for the days ahead.
OUR APPROACH
Weeks before the conference, we worked with the CBN team to develop the opening video around the New Horizons theme. Rather than simply introducing the event, the video was designed as an experience for the room – setting the tone, building energy and providing a natural lead-in to the CEO’s opening address.
Once the conference began, our focus shifted to capturing the experience as it unfolded.
Across multiple days, we filmed keynote presentations, seminars, networking sessions and the energy of the evening events. It was important that the finished video didn’t feel like a simple chronological recap. We wanted to capture what it actually felt like to be part of the conference.
Working closely with the event MC, we also recorded a series of vox pops with attendees throughout the event. Their reactions, observations and experiences became an important part of the storytelling, helping us shape the highlights around the voices of the people attending rather than relying solely on footage of what happened.
One of the biggest challenges was the turnaround.
While filming continued across the conference, our edit was already taking shape behind the scenes. Footage needed to be reviewed, selected and edited quickly so a finished highlights video could be presented to attendees at the conclusion of the event.
It required careful planning, fast decision-making and a production workflow designed specifically for the demands of live events.
OUTCOME
The final highlights video brought together the substance of the conference – its speakers, ideas and professional development – with the networking, celebrations and energy that made the event memorable.
Delivered within the tight conference deadline, the video gave attendees an opportunity to relive the experience together before leaving the event and provided CBN with an engaging way to finish the conference on a high.
But the value of the content didn’t end there.
Following the conference, we produced additional versions of the highlights video, including a fast-paced 60-second social media edit. This gave CBN content that could continue to showcase the conference, engage its broker community and build anticipation for future events.
From creating anticipation before delegates arrive, to engaging a room during the event and extending its reach afterwards, the project demonstrates how a coordinated video strategy can add value at every stage of a conference.
