7-Eleven

Visual Culture has worked with 7-Eleven to produce a wide range of video content, primarily supporting its corporate communications team and internal audiences.

From documenting new initiatives and processes to interviewing key team members and building a library of reusable footage, our role is to help 7-Eleven communicate what’s happening across the business in a clear and engaging way.

The three videos featured here provide a snapshot of that work and demonstrate how different stories can call for very different production approaches.

CLIENT BRIEF

With a large organisation, a national network of stores and teams working across different areas of the business, internal communication plays an important role in keeping people informed and connected.

7-Eleven regularly has new initiatives, innovations and operational stories it needs to share with internal audiences.

Our brief across these projects has been to work with the corporate communications team to find engaging ways to capture and communicate those stories — while also making the most of each production opportunity.

Alongside finished videos, we’ve captured extensive stock footage of stores, people, products, processes and working environments that 7-Eleven can retain within its internal asset library and draw upon for future communications.

OUR APPROACH

Not every story needs to be told in the same way.

For two of the projects featured here, we took a completely visual approach. Rather than relying on interviews or voiceover to explain what was happening, the story and process unfold through carefully planned footage, editing, music and visual sequencing.

The result is content that remains informative while being fast-moving, engaging and easy to absorb.

For the 7-Eleven cashless store initiative, the story called for a different approach.

We interviewed key members of the team involved in the project, allowing the people closest to the initiative to explain the thinking, development and experience in their own words. Supporting footage then brings the story to life and gives the audience a closer look at the concept in practice.

Across our work with 7-Eleven, we also think beyond the immediate finished video.

When we’re already filming within a store or another 7-Eleven environment, we look for opportunities to capture additional high-quality footage that may have value in the future.

This helps build an ongoing visual asset library that can support internal communications and future video projects without needing to recreate every shot from scratch.

THE OUTCOME

The result is an ongoing collection of video content that helps 7-Eleven share initiatives, ideas and changes across its business.

The projects demonstrate that corporate communications video doesn’t need to follow a single formula.

Sometimes the people behind an initiative are the best people to tell the story.

Sometimes strong visuals, music and editing can communicate everything the audience needs to know without a single spoken word.

And sometimes the value of a production extends beyond the finished video, with the footage captured becoming a reusable asset for future communications.

By working with 7-Eleven across multiple productions, we’ve also developed an understanding of their brand, environments and internal communication needs — helping make each new production smoother and more efficient.
