The Visual Culture showreel – an evolution

The 2026 Visual Culture showreel makes a few bold statements. Rather than let them stand alone, this post offers a little context – and introduces the broader timeline of showreels that reflect both my career and the evolution of Visual Culture.

25+ Years of Experience

My career in video production began in 1998, right at the transition from analogue to digital. It was a formative time to be learning the craft, and it laid the foundation for everything that followed.

Visual Culture is an extension of that journey – from working full-time as a video producer in a busy production company, to freelancing in London, and then, in 2010, transitioning into running my own business and formally establishing the Visual Culture name. Each showreel across the years reflects a different stage of that progression.

Bespoke Video Solutions for Over 500 Organisations

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with more than 500 organisations. The majority are direct clients since 2010, alongside a significant number of projects delivered in collaboration with agencies through white-label and production support services.

Earlier roles included work across corporate, commercial, and television projects, and during my time freelancing in London I worked with a range of excellent production companies on client-facing projects. Some engagements were one-offs, others long-term partnerships — but all contributed to the experience and body of work represented in the showreels.

12,000+ Videos Produced

This figure is an estimate, but a realistic one. On average, I work on approximately 75–100 projects per year, and very few projects result in a single video. Training programs alone can include anywhere from 50 to 100 videos, while even modest projects often deliver multiple assets.

Over nearly three decades, those numbers add up quickly. While it would be difficult to count every video individually, the figure reflects the genuine scale of work produced across industries, formats, and platforms.

A National (and International) Crew Network

When required, Visual Culture works with a trusted network of crew members across every Australian capital city, as well as regional and international locations. Many of these relationships span years, even decades.

Our crews bring 10, 15, and 20+ years of experience and share the same values that underpin how we approach production — professionalism, collaboration, and adaptability.

Always Bespoke

Every client, every project, and every brief is different. That’s why Visual Culture approaches each production as a bespoke solution, tailoring the process to achieve the best possible outcome rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

The Showreel Timeline

The Visual Culture and Simon Holt showreels, viewed together, form a timeline — not just of work produced, but of experience gained, technology evolved, and storytelling refined.

Each showreel captures a moment in time, reflecting both the creative direction and the practical realities of the industry at that point. Watching them in sequence offers a clearer understanding of how those headline statements came to be — and how the work continues to evolve.

Thank you to all the organisations, collaborators, and crews who have been part of this journey so far. There’s still plenty more to come.
