Liberty

CLIENT BRIEF

Liberty needed to transform a range of important workplace procedures and safe work practices into clear, accessible training resources for its team.

The objective was to create a comprehensive series of videos that could demonstrate the correct use of equipment and communicate workplace processes consistently – giving team members practical training content they could access when required.

With 28 individual topics to cover, the challenge was not simply producing a large volume of content. Each video needed to be accurate, easy to follow and visually demonstrate the knowledge held by Liberty’s own subject-matter experts.

Production also needed to take place across multiple working locations, including two stores that would remain open to customers throughout filming.

OUR APPROACH

Our involvement began well before the cameras came out.

Working collaboratively with the Liberty team, we helped identify what employees needed to learn and provided guidance on structuring the training content into clear, logical steps.

Liberty’s subject-matter experts brought the essential operational knowledge. Our role was to help translate that knowledge into video.

Once the initial scripts had been developed, we refined them from a production perspective, considering not only what needed to be said, but what the viewer needed to see.

Detailed production notes and shot lists were developed for each module. We identified where wider shots were needed to establish a process, where close-ups could clarify an important action, and where equipment, controls, safety features or techniques needed particular attention.

This preparation became especially valuable during filming.

Production took place across several Liberty locations, including stores operating as normal throughout the shoot. Rather than expecting the workplace to adapt around us, we adapted our production around the workplace.

When an area became busy with customers, we could move to another part of the filming schedule and return later. In tighter spaces, we reduced our production footprint, while larger locations allowed us greater flexibility with cameras and lighting.

Because every procedure had been carefully planned beforehand, we could remain flexible on location without compromising the content we needed to capture.

Accuracy remained the priority throughout production and post-production.

As procedures were demonstrated on camera, we worked with Liberty’s team to identify where instructions needed clarification or where the actual process differed from the original script.

Temporary voiceovers were then used during editing, allowing the Liberty team to review each complete module – narration, visuals and sequence – before final voiceovers were recorded.

This provided another opportunity to confirm terminology, procedures and safety information before the videos were finalised.

OUTCOME

The project resulted in 28 individual workplace training videos, each focused on a specific topic or procedure.

Rather than creating one long training program, the modular approach gave Liberty a flexible library of content that could be incorporated into its learning and training platforms.

New employees can use the videos as part of their induction and training, while existing team members can return to an individual module whenever they need to refresh their knowledge of a particular procedure.

Most importantly, the project helped Liberty capture valuable knowledge from within its organisation and turn it into a consistent training resource.

Instead of relying solely on an experienced team member being available every time a procedure needs to be taught, the agreed process can now be demonstrated visually whenever it is needed.

For a project of this scale, success came from more than efficient filming. It required careful planning, close collaboration with Liberty’s subject-matter experts and a production process flexible enough to operate within real working environments.

The result is a practical library of training content designed to help Liberty share knowledge consistently, support safer work practices and make valuable internal expertise available across its team.
